“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” — Psalm 8:3-4 (NIV)
Years ago, I moved to the north Georgia foothills from the city. One of the first things I noticed was the summer night sky. On some nights, the sky was so clear I could see clusters of stars glistening overhead.
I would drive home at night, get out of my car, and just stare at the sky, marveling at our God who created the universe.
God’s vastness actually highlights His closeness. If a God that big can be personally involved with each one of us, how amazing is His love.
God, thank You that You are so big. I feel safe with You because You are bigger than everything. You are my protector. Thank You that even in Your vastness, You choose to be in close relationship with me in every detail of my life. I love my big, close-up God. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
Thought for the Day
Take a look at the stars tonight. Can’t see them from where you live? Look online at photos of the universe. That’s our amazing, up-close, and personal God.
